You will explore theories of intelligent robotic control and software tools required to implement standard algorithms in mobile robots and robot manipulators.
This Robotics programme from University of Birmingham consists of modules in which you will study robotics to an advanced level. You will also work on at least one mini-project. Here you will work one-to-one with one of our research-active staff to explore an area in great depth – analysing the problem and existing solutions, developing new ideas and building or evaluating prototype systems.
You will develop your skills in analysis, research, technology and also in presenting and explaining your work clearly and effectively. In addition, you will be able to take several optional taught modules from various fields. You will work on a research project in an area of robotics over the summer, again with expert one-to-one supervision.
This, along with the chance to learn from world leaders in their field and to develop research and transferable skills, will effectively prepare you to either work in industry or pursue a research degree in robotics.
Courses included:
- Advanced Robotics
- Robot Vision
- Intelligent Robotics (Extended)
- Project
- Algorithms and Complexity
- Current Topics in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Machine Learning
“The transition from undergrad to postgrad can be a big step up in terms of workload and what is expected of you, but there is so much support available to you as a postgrad student, from academic writing support (if you’ve been out of education for a few years or just want a bit of extra help) to mental health and wellbeing services. The careers support is fantastic – the uni puts on employer fairs throughout the year and you have access to one on one support from the Careers Network team, who can help you develop your skills ready for your next step!”
